By Brenda Medina

TALLAHASSEE

The Florida Senate on Monday gave unanimous and final approval to a bill that imposes criminal penalties on condominium violations such as electoral fraud, theft of funds and conflicts of interests — all significant problems in Miami-Dade County.

The 37-0 vote on the bill, already endorsed by the House last week in another unanimous vote, now goes to Gov. Rick Scott for his signature.

Drugged driving eclipses drunken driving in tests of motorists killed in crashes

By Ashley Halsey III

April 26

For the first time, statistics show that drivers killed in crashes are more likely to be on drugs than drunk.

Forty-three percent of drivers tested in fatal crashes in 2015 had used a legal or illegal drug, eclipsing the 37 percent who tested above the legal limit for alcohol, according to a report released Wednesday by the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) and the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility.

Of the drivers who tested positive for drugs, more than a third had used marijuana and more than 9 percent had taken amphetamines.

The Homeowners Insurance Policy

We offer broad protection that you can trust, plus affordable rates, and outstanding service.  If something like fire makes your home uninhabitable, the Homeowners Insurance covers the increased costs of a place to live until you can move back in.

We can replace personal belongings at replacement value – not the depreciated value.

Homeowners insurance can help protect you in case of a liability lawsuit against you.

This could occur in a situation where you are held responsible for:

  • Injury to another person
  • Damage to another person’s property

This could apply whether the incident occurred within your residence or elsewhere.

We offer protection for your dwelling, as well as your personal possessions and personal liability.

If a fire or natural disaster makes your home uninhabitable, your homeowners insurance policy will cover the cost for you to live elsewhere until you can move back in.  We can replace your personal belongings at replacement costs and will not take into account depreciation.

Your homeowners insurance can also protect you in case of a liability lawsuit against you.  A lawsuit can occur in any situation where someone receives an injury while in you home.  Lawsuits can come from guests, contractors or any individual inside the premises of your property.

We pride ourselves in offering broad protection you can trust.  We will provide you with the most affordable and accurate rates for your home.

What is a Flood?

Anywhere it rains, it can flood. A flood is a general and temporary condition where two or more acres of normally dry land or two or more properties are inundated by water or mud flow. Many conditions can result in a flood: hurricanes, broken leaves, outdated or clogged drainage systems and rapid accumulation of rainfall.

Just because you haven’t experienced a flood in the past, doesn’t mean you won’t in the future. Flood risk isn’t just based on history, it’s also based on a number of factors: rainfall, river-flow and tidal-surge data, topography, flood-control measures, and changes due to building and development.

Flood-hazard maps have been created to show different degrees of risk for your community, which help determine the cost of flood insurance. The lower the degree of risk, the lower the flood insurance premium.

Floridians understand the serious damage that floods can do in. Even the small ones can often leave their mark of destruction. However, flood coverage can often be overlooked, since it’s not included in a standard homeowners policy. Often, Florida residents find out about this much too late.

At ASI Florida, our agents work hard to find the flood policy you need to protect your home and property. We work with different carriers in order to find the coverage that best fits your needs and budget.

We want you to be confident that our flood policy will come through for you to protect your property from water damage, sewer backup, and mildew resulting from floods. Besides paying for repairs to your building, our flood coverage also includes expenses to pay for your damaged contents.

At ASI Florida, we’re your flood insurance experts. To learn more, please contact us at any time, or simply fill out our free quote form!
